HOW did you get to my blog???
I check my blog’s statistics pretty frequently to see how things are going, which of my posts get read the most, what kind of things I need to do better, etc. You may wonder why I care quite so much about such things, but I always have a bit of a need to be successful at ventures like this, and the most tangible measure of that success is knowing how many people read my blog. Heck, there are at least three people who like me enough to subscribe to my RSS feed (I suppose they could be something like the Technorati/Google bots, and come to think of it, that’s most likely, but let me keep my illusion for a little while longer).
Anyway, to make a longer story short, one of the most interesting statistics to follow is the Google search terms that lead somebody to my blog. One of today’s entries was particularly surprising.
Most search results make a lot of sense based on my recent entries. A few days after my “Escaping life with your ego intact” post, searches included stuff like “escaping life” and “ego in Buddhism” (as an aside, I was the 21st entry in Google if you searched for “escaping life” last time I checked). When I wrote about the Fifty Cent and Cameron feud, I got substantial traffic from hip-hop heads looking for news and commentary on the situation. These things are all natural extensions of my posting patterns.
But today, I got this entry:
beyonce wanks white guy
Huh? Somebody consciously typed into Google “beyonce wanks white guy” expecting a hit of some sort? That’s unbelievable. I knew the Internet was full of messed up sickos, but reading my very own blog? I feel violated.
I don’t get it at all. Did somebody actually expect Jigga’s girlfriend to jack-off some silly little white kid? Did they want pictures of it? Did they want movies of a Beyonce look-alike? For that matter, how come it seems like I can’t name any black pornstars off the top of my head? Are they in hiding, or do they simply not exist (hard to believe)?
Anyway, back on topic. Whoever came to my site expecting “beyonce wanks white guy” must have been really disappointed. First off, I’m Asian. Secondly, my Beyonce article was about how white men were up in arms about her being on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Clearly this fella is more progressive than those hooligans, having evolved from racist dog-in-heat to color-blind dog-in-heat.
Dr. King would be proud. It’s just that..I may be wrong, but I don’t think he was talking about wet dreams…
