Jang Ja Yeon commits suicide

Apparently, this pretty Korean actress hung herself on March 7, 2009. People are saying it’s work-related depression, which just makes me wonder how things that aren’t really that important (or at least not critical) get rationalized and contextualized as earth-shattering in the human mind. It’s like how, on a smaller level, graduate students like myself tend to freak out over our schoolwork, and, it least in my case, I do it while knowing fully well that the fate of the world does not rest on immediately figuring out the secrets of music.
