About Me

Hi, my name is Jason Nguyen, and I’m a 22 year old graduate of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and I am currently working a few odd jobs while I plan out the next few steps of my life. In particular I teach the MCAT and SAT for Kaplan Test Prep. and also do occasional contract work with PBwiki, the world’s largest private wiki provider.

My work with PBwiki is diverse, including everything from AJAX-style applications to CSS design. I also write a weekly “Tip of the Week” article for the Official PBwiki Blog, which gives advice to both novice and advance users of the service.

For those interested, my web development skills include extensive experience with HTML and Javascript (particularly AJAX-driven applications) and professional CSS design work.

I am also a musician, having an extensive background studying violin and western musical theory. I have performed with the Wake Forest University Symphony Orchestra and the professional Salisbury Symphony Orchestra (NC) along with numerous other organizations.

My interest in traditional Vietnamese music led me to study with Master Pham Duc-Thanh in Montreal, Canada with two research grants from Wake Forest University. Since meeting him nearly five years ago, I have received multiple distinctions, such as being the opening presenter for the Statewide North Carolina Undergraduate Research Symposium and a winner of Wake Forest University’s Concerto Competition with my performance of “Hon Vong Phu,” my arrangement of a tune by Le Thuong for Vietnamese monochord and string orchestra (click the YouTube link below for that piece and other performances).
